Working out

Dawn and Nirjhar decided to for go some extra sleep and get a morning workout. The plan was to do this everyday, however, today they decided to sleep in.

Monday

After a good day at camp, where students worked in small groups and on their own to produce items for their instructors we headed back to the hotel to have brief staff meetings. Ybookers began the arduous task of selecting a theme for the 12th volume of the TALON and the Posters discussed distribution dates for next year's papers and are trying to persuede me to have a paper out on the 1st day of school.

After meeting up with Candace Chang (class of 2006 and former EIC of the TALON, and Tiffany Chang's sister) We then made our way to Times Square and Ellen's Stardust Cafe for dinner. The food is just okay, however, the wait staff sings and gives a show throughout. It is a fun exsperience and the students seemed to enjoy the night.

Back to the hotel and homework waited for many.

Arrival in NYC

After a smooth and easy flight to the East Coast we arrived at our hotel. Of course being only 8:30am our rooms were not yet ready. Walked over to Cafe Charlie's (next door) to eat a true NYC breakfast. Yell out your order and wait. The even opened their upstairs section just for us.

Monisha and Isha joined the group and we were off to walk the city. Had to postpone the island boat tour due to weather. We ventured into Times Square, where we joined the 7th annual Solstice Festival in the middle of Times Square. Mahum and Shreya worked as Press, signed in as official press. Others participated in the event for about 20 min. (went for 1.5 hours, we were tired).

Finally got in to our rooms at about 2:30 and relaxed until time to head to camp.

Summer Journalism Camp
